Inventory first, relocation second
Before relocation, inventory computers, monitors, printers, phones, switches, routers, servers, UPS, licenses, accounts, domains, DNS, email flow and applications that must work.
Without inventory, relocation becomes a sequence of surprises: forgotten device, missing adapter, unknown password, application tied to an old IP address.
- Equipment and serial number inventory
- Account and admin access list
- Application and dependency map
- IP address and VPN plan
- Backup before the move
The new location must be ready before the team arrives
Internet link, rack, switches, Wi-Fi, firewall, VPN and baseline tests should be completed before employees arrive at the new address.
If cabling, provider setup and equipment are handled on the same day people need to work, downtime risk is unnecessarily high.
Cutover window and rollback
The move needs a precise window, activity order, decision owner, test list and rollback conditions if something fails.
This is especially important for DNS, email, VPN, server access and applications used by accounting, sales or production.
Post-move verification
After the move, do not check only whether internet works. Test applications, email sending and receiving, printers, scanners, VPN, backup jobs, Wi-Fi in all zones and access for key users.
IT Service can manage the relocation through a checklist, coordination and final status report.
